Light Industry is very pleased to announce that Steve Pyke has been made an
M.B.E. in The Queen's Birthday Honours list.
The honour is awarded to Steve for his services to the arts over a long and
distinguished career.
Steve Pyke commented:
" I am delighted to receive this award. Portraiture is still very much the
backbone of my work. When you think of the number of faces in the world and
that no two are exactly the same, that the face is not just inherited but
evolves through age and experiences, then the creative possibilities are
limitless.
I love the constant challenge of looking into another's eyes, delving into
the familiar and unfamiliar, seeing beauty in strangeness and vice versa. My
study of who or what a person is through their face, hands or body has taken
me all over the world. Through this I started to accumulate a larger body of
work, photographing cities, landscapes, or just abstract elements that
attracted my curiosity along the way...from shadows in a New York doorway to
raging seascapes off the Irish coast.
Expressing these things through photography is still a big buzz for me."
Simon Crocker, Director of Light Industry added "We are delighted that
Steve's outstanding contribution to his field of the arts has been
recognised in this way. He has been tireless over the years in his continual
striving for excellence and we are proud to represent him worldwide in his
endeavours"
